How to Install a Door

Finding out how to install a door is a great idea if you love do it yourself projects. Doors are often overlooked, but can certainly add a lot to the look and feel of your home.

You may want to install the door for decorative reasons. Or it may be that your current door is very drafty and not effective. Whatever the reason, you’ll love how simple the project can truly be.

Also, you will definitely have to learn how to remove the old doors as well. This is a simple process!

Simply stick a wedge under to keep it open, then you can pop the pin in the hinges out. Then you simple take the door off the frame. If only everything were so easy!

In fact, you can even use the same hinges for the new door. After you’ve completed that step you might need to cut the door to size a bit.

This is not a good idea if there is a preset pattern. To be on the safe side, always measure first.

You just need to get the door all ready to use the hinges. Then you just place the door in the frame, line everything up and then put the pins back in the hinges. Viola!

You are now the proud owner of a brand new door!

Of course, you might want to install a lock on your brand new door. Some locks are in the doorknob itself while others will need a separate install altogether.

If your door comes with its own lock, follow all manufacturers’ instructions on how to install it as they vary widely according to the type of lock they are.

Another consideration for some people is if they have a screen door to deal with. Thankfully many of these works on the same hinge type system as doors. If you understand the easy removal of doors, the screen door should be a piece of cake for you!
